Internal Medicine
I chose to become a doctor after earning my PharmD and completing two years of pharmacy residency. I learned that although I really enjoy pharmacotherapeutics I was missing the patient interaction. I most enjoy getting to know my patients and the relationship I build with them as a primary care physician. I believe that a treatment plan or prevention plan needs to be devised with the patient and not made for them. I try to listen to my patients and help them formulate plans that will work with their personal goals. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three kids.
An internist or Internal Medicine doctor is someone who specializes in diagnosing and treating illnesses, diseases, and health problems. Most internists are also primary care doctors and treat patients on a regular basis. They can diagnose and treat common illnesses or more serious problems. Most people see an internist regularly. Those with chronic illnesses may do so on a monthly or even weekly basis. Internists are the most common types of doctors.
