4 weeks after seeing Dr. Brian P. Wolfman with a specific concern about a gallbladder issue, my symptoms have been steadily worsening and I was finally able to see a surgeon for a consultation and I DO NEED MY GALLBLADDER REMOVED. Dr. Wolfman gave me a rude and dismissive 7 minute appointment where he denied my issue (incompetently) and talked down to me throughout. He also refused to discuss my other long standing G.I. issues (need for a colonoscopy, colon cancer history with my grandmother, etc).

Dr. Wolfman was not only completely incompetent and abundantly rude during his SHORT UNDER 10 minute appointment, but he missed a major health issue that I had specifically asked him about. He made no effort to do any kind of physical examination.

He talked down to me, he was rude. He said, "I treat patients, not ultrasounds" when I asked about the sludge condition shown on the ultrasound. He's right... he does treat patients... terribly. He treats them HORRIBLY. So rude!

I need surgery now for the issue HE MISSED AND WAS DISMISSIVE ABOUT -- I'm lucky I decided to go to a surgeon and that my general doctor had given me a referral because Dr. Wolfman certainly did not!

This was not my only negative experience at Coastal Gastroenterology Associates.

I had previously seen Dr. Jain, who COULDN'T EVEN FIND A HERNIA (which was previously already diagnosed) and which required surgery only weeks later. He also only gave me 10 minutes only and REFUSED to discuss any of my long term G.I. issues until he could do a colonoscopy... which he WANTED TO DO WHILE I STILL WAS SUFFERING FROM MY SERIOUS HERNIA and I had to cancel due to the hernia surgery.

The third issue with this place is the office manager. If you have any issue with a doctor or appointment, you can be sure that the office manager will BLAME YOU and then REFUSE TO REPOND TO ANY FURTHER EMAILS TO THE OFFICE. After reaching out with my concerns, she left me a voicemail (only because she saw a negative facebook review) and said I was misunderstood. I very kindly and professionally requested information, directed to her, from the office in regard to the the Hackensack Meridian Health network about where I can send feedback and/or file a complaint with the doctor. I sent a friendly follow up as well. After 4 weeks, she has yet to provide me this information or even respond.

If you value your health, DO NOT VISIT THIS PRACTICE. If you want to see an incompetent gastroenterologist, be talked down to, not be believed, and be spoken to rudely, by all means see Dr. Wolfman. If you want to have confidence in your visit and the doctor's recommendations, and not end up in surgery 4 weeks later because they missed a major issue (as happened to me twice), DO NOT VISIT COASTAL GASTOENTEROLOGISTS.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this practice like the plague. Coastal Gastroenterologists does not deserve to be under the Hackensack Meridian Health name. It also doesn't matter which location you go to... I visited two separate ones and this kind of incompetency and rudeness is abundant throughout the whole practice and even extends to the office manager.

Will never return to Dr. Wolfman or Coastal Gastro Docs.

I have pain in my gallbladder area, pain in the center of my chest, and have imaging which shows multiple gallstones and a condition known as sludge. I also recently had vomiting and a few other symptoms, but made the appt to discuss long term GI issues too.

He gave me 8 minutes. Dismissive of a gallbladder issue (he may not be right, based on a previous doc from Coastal being wrong about a hernia that required surgery less than a month later).

Dr. Wolfman was condescending and rude.

When I asked about my concerns of having a gallbladder attack, his response was, rudely, "What IS a gallbladder attack?" in an attempt to make me look foolish. This was clearly said with the intention of trying to embarrass me or make me make a fool out of myself. I told him what I knew of it and he gave no information back.

He said "I treat patients not ultrasounds" when I expressed concern about the sludge condition. He said 30% of people have it. I've known 2 whose led to removal, 1 led to an attack.

He also appeared to refuse to believe me about the reason (quickest available) that I went to a place an hour away for the hernia surgery consultation and surgery. He challenged that assertion THREE TIMES!

Refused to discuss anything else.

Similar issues with Dr. Jain from this practice, which led to him doing nothing during the appointment except tell me I either have no hernia or it's fine and then refuse any other discussions about my G.I. issues "until after a colonoscopy" which I had to cancel because I HAD TO HAVE SURGERY FOR THE HERNIA LESS THAN A MONTH AFTER SEEING HIM!

I do not recommend any doctor from Coastal Gastroenterology Associates also known as Coastal Gastro Docs. I made the mistake of trying a different doctor at this place and I greatly regret it.

You may very well end up with a condescending doctor who gives you only 10 minutes, refuses to even go over your history, and makes what may be very inaccurate assessments based on almost nothing of an appointment and, if your experience is anything like mine, you may end up needing surgery based on what they missed (and dismissed rudely and condescendingly).
