Nazareth Hospital has served Northeast Philadelphia and the surrounding region for over 75 years. In the 1930s, the founding Sisters prepared by sending its members to train at hospitals throughout the country. After six years of preparation, Nazareth Hospital opened on March 9, 1940, at a cost of $800,000—financed by the Sisters, their families and friends. The hospital has grown to serve the varied health needs of our community with programs ranging from maternity and medical/surgical units to radiation therapy, rehabilitation and a transitional care unit. Today, Nazareth continues to be a vital part of the community, and is dedicated to providing the needed access to high-quality health care, delivered with compassion and respect.
