The Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center (MSHMC) is a 548-bed non-profit, research and academic medical center located in Hershey, Pennsylvania, providing tertiary and healthcare needs for the Central Pennsylvania and the capitol region. Milton S. Hershey Medical Center the region's only academic university-level teaching center. The hospital is owned by the Pennsylvania State University Health System and the second largest hospital in the system. Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is affiliated with the Penn State College of Medicine. Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is also a designated level I trauma center and has a helipad to handle medevac patients.

I arrived as a level 2 trauma patient after an accident with a dump truck. I honestly don't remember much if anything from the first week, except that my family wasn't thrilled about the care I was receiving. I understand nurses are generally good loving and caring ppl. You have to be to do the job. But IDK if it was an understaffing issue, or they figured that since I was incoherent and in la-la land, that I didn't necessarily need bathed. I surely couldn't do it myself, being stuck in traction with a shattered left hip and broken collarbone. I apparently still had dried blood in my hair 8 days later. But the disturbing part THAT I MYSELF do remember, is that the overnight nurses weren't properly trained to operate the new morphine pump machines. And they were all but overdosing me. I tried telling everyone and their answer was that I was hallucinating from all the meds and pain. But c'mon. When the daytime nurses switched out my morphine, it'd last nearly 2 days. When the overnight nurses changed it, it didn't even last a full day. Now how can that be? I can go on about the overnight nurses, but I'm not up for embarrassing myself anymore.
Overall. The doctors and surgeons are too notch. But the nurses and especially the hospital personnel. Not very nice. I'd definitely try another hospital unless you are forced into going to Hershey Med.
