I have seen Dr. Marsh for about a year now for lumbar disc disease and severe spinal stenosis as well as pinched nerves on either side of my back. He knows that I am in severe pain but says that if I just move and exercise that it would get better but how am I supposed to do that when I have severe numbness in one of my legs and severe pain in both sides of my lower back and down both legs? He said to me that I should be happy that at least I do not have a terminal cancer diagnosis or a lupus diagnosis how can you even compare that to a debilitating spine condition in the first place??? This man is so rude and so uninterested in the pain you are in or what you have to say. I mean doesnt the patient know their body? Since they live in it? He sent me to a pain doctor at WVU as well who said that my lumbar decompression surgery was unsuccessful and that the nerve is still badly pinched and that the other side nerve was also pinched and that my imaging was worse than before but yet I go see Marsh who says that the surgery was a success and that I just have a low thresh hold for pain. No I have a high thresh hold for pain seeing as how I am in severe pain daily and have zero pain meds to help and they tell me to go to the ER for pain but what in the heck is the ER gonna do for my pain? Tell me to follow up with my neurosurgeon? So if my pain thresh hold was so low then how in the actual f*** do I deal so well with the pain daily??? I havent once been to the ER for my pain and immediately after my decompression surgery I was up moving and walking because I had to. He let me sit for months in pain and I couldnt get an appointment to see him and when I finally did see him he literally just acted like I was lazy and should be moving more so that my back wont hurt so bad. I just dont understand how any doctor that knows that you have pinched nerves and severe pain from the narrowing of your spinal canal can say well I know that youre in pain, I can see that youre in pain but all you need to do is move and exercise? It doesnt make any sense. My condition has absolutely nothing do with keeping motion and moving. My back grinds anytime I move. I cant wrap my head around him saying that my spine isnt as bad as it was and that if I just move more I will feel better but I am going to need rods and screws in my back to fix the pain but until I get strength in my leg there isnt anything that he can do for me!!!! I also have been complaining to him that my neck is hurting and I am having severe headaches but yet he said that my neck pain is caused by stenosis he wasnt worried about that until I got mean and then he agreed to do some images to see if I have any discs that are bulged or collapsed and because I now have weakness in one of my arms when they done the strengthening tests on me. He has some really messed up bedside manner and even said I should feel lucky he is even doing anything at all for me. I am 30 years old and have 2 babies that I have to take care of. My condition came overnight and now almost 2 years later my quality of life is awful. But he just acts like I am just lazy and I just need to deal with the pain and stop complaining because if he does the fusion surgery to help me with pain then I cant be a p***y when it comes to pain since the surgery and recovery is extremely painful and difficult. How dare he or any doctor say some of these things and treat their patients as if what they are saying is nothing to worry about or be concerned with even though there is weakness and pain in different areas? But yet the first time I saw him he told me I had a severe football injury and that it was just muscle pain and if I did the Marsh exercise program ( Yes, he has his own exercise program) then I would feel better and also I just needed to move more so I did everything he said and only became worse. My point is the man doesnt listen to you when you tell him what is wrong and he automatically thinks that youre just lazy and need to move more to help your pain.
