Overview

Erin Burns, DO, received her medical degree at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri after receiving her master's in biomedical research. She completed her family medicine residency at Community Health Network. Dr. Burns’ areas of special interest include prevention, education and wellness - for acute or chronic conditions and general wellness.

As a doctor of osteopathic medicine (DO), Dr. Burns views her patients as a “whole person,” including the mind, body and spirit. When treating her patients, she tries to treat the whole body rather than a symptom. Sometimes this includes osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) or osteopathic manipulative therapy (OMT), which encourages the body’s natural ability to heal itself. OMM/OMT may focus on the skin, fascia, energy/rhythms, muscles, skeleton and nerves. Treatments are sometimes gentle and relaxing or rigorous. Dr. Burns’ specialty is fascia, which can be defined as a band or sheet of connective tissue fibers, primarily collagen, which forms beneath the skin to attach, stabilize, enclose and separate muscles and other internal organs. She also provides basic dermatologic procedures and gynecological care, including contraceptives and colposcopy.

In her free time, Dr. Burns enjoys cooking, gardening, home restoration, traveling, painting, photography, camping, team sports, reading and organizing.
