The Causes (and Treatments) of Hair Thinning in Men

Every time you look in the mirror, are you noticing that your hairline is getting higher? This may be a sign of hair loss, and you would want to stop that at any cost. In this article, the causes and treatment for hair thinning will be tackled efficiently and adequately.

Causes of Hair Thinning

Hair thinning may result from genetics, changes in hormones, medical conditions, or a natural part of aging. Anyone can lose their head’s hair, but it is more likely to happen in men, which is quite worrisome. Usually, baldness refers to excessive hair loss from your scalp, and the most prevalent cause of baldness is aging.

1. Genetics

Male pattern baldness tends to run in your family’s genes, but it is not entirely clear how exactly it is inherited. Male-pattern baldness, a hereditary characteristic of your parents, results in almost all hair loss in males.

The only good news is that hair loss has the capacity sometimes to reverse itself (meaning the hair will grow back), especially if it is not from male-pattern baldness.

2. Change In Hormones

Some hormonal changes cause hair follicles to shrink. Usually, you will notice signs of hair thinning when your hairline is receding. The thinning of the hairline above your temples and crown usually begins there.

3. Medical Conditions

Certain drugs, too much vitamin A, or not enough protein are factors that may affect your hair growth. Also, temporary hair loss can result from anemia or thyroid disorders.

Also, a diet low in protein and iron can induce thinning of the hair. Hair loss may also be a side effect of some medications such as cancer, heart problems, depression, and many others you take for your medical conditions. Illness or stress can also lead to rapid, extreme shedding of the hair.

4. Aging

When you reach the age of 40 or 50, hair thinning and hair loss becomes very common. Hair growth is much slower than before.

Treatments of Hair Thinning

There are many different treatments for hair thinning or hair loss. With these four options, you can decide what treatment you would like to get. Continue reading below to see which one will work the best for you.

1.     OTC Drugs

Two drugs have been approved by the U.S. FDA, which are known as Minoxidil and Finasteride. Remember to consult your doctor first before taking these drugs.

2. Scalp Micropigmentation

This procedure is designated for men that are suffering from hair thinning and baldness. In this modern age, scalp micropigmentation for men is highly available. It can also extend your receding hairline- so this procedure is one of the highly effective methods to get back the hair you have from before.

3. Hair Transplant

There are two kinds of hair transplants. The first one is follicular unit transplantation, and the second one is follicular unit extraction. Research about these hair transplants first before making any decision.

4. Laser Treatment

This procedure is not that common, but it can reduce levels of inflammation in the hair follicles. Inflammation in the hair follicles causes the hair to minimize growth and stop it from regrowing.

We tried to cover all the causes and treatments of hair thinning in men, so we hope you find this piece of information useful and helpful. If you find yourself suffering from this condition, you have various options to choose from to fix it. Remember to get the treatment that will make you feel content and happy.
