The colder months can make getting and staying motivated difficult, especially early in the morning. If you find yourself snoozing through your alarm and getting a late start each day, you may be looking for ways to help boost your productivity. Starting your day with a morning ritual is one of the best ways to stay motivated and productive all day long. It sets the tone for the day and helps establish a routine.
Let’s take a look at three simple yet effective morning rituals you can implement starting tomorrow morning to achieve more productive days every single day.
#1 Listen to a Motivating Podcast While Drinking Coffee: There are so many wonderful and positive podcasts available that can help start your day off on the right foot. Listening to a motivating podcast while youdrink your morning cup of coffee is an ideal way to set the tone for a more positive day. If you don’t drink coffee, you can listen to your podcast while eating breakfast, or while getting dressed and ready for the day. Pick one that resonates with you and listens to it each morning.
#2 Set Your Intentions for the Day: Just like writing out your daily schedule, setting your intentions for the day is a great way to stay positive and productive. Get a journal, and write down what your goals are. Make this a little different than your standard to-do list by writing down at least one thing you want to accomplish for yourself that day and one thing you can do for someone else. This will really help set the tone for a positive day ahead.
#3 Do 5-Minutes of Meditation: Download a meditation app on your phone, and do just five minutes or meditation before your hectic day begins. By centering yourself before your day starts, you will be less likely to feel overwhelmed and stressed throughout the day, and more likely to come back to your breath when things start to become overwhelming. The more you practice this, the better you will be, so start with five minutes per day, and then try to implement some meditation into your afternoon and evening routine.
#4 Get Some Exercise in: While waking up earlier to get your exercise in may be the last thing you want to do, you will be so happy you got your workout in before your day starts! Exercising in the morning also helps to set you up for success throughout the day. You will be more likely to make healthy dietary choices, and you may even have more energy throughout the day as well. Make it a habit to do some form of exercise before the day starts whether it’s 15 minutes of yoga or a half hour home workout video. Do what works for you, and be sure to choose something you enjoy so you are more likely to stick with it.
As you can see, these morning rituals take very little time and are super simple to implement. They are so quick and easy that you could do all three of them before heading out the door to work each day. Only have time for one? Pick the one that will work best for your lifestyle and stick with it! After just a couple of days of getting up and doing your morning routine, you will be less likely to oversleep, and more likely to jump out of bed, ready to tackle the day ahead.
