Kristina Rodriguez Salaverry, DDS, MS, was awarded her dental doctorate from Columbia University’s College of Dental Medicine after receiving a Bachelor of Arts with Honors from Dartmouth College. Dr. Salaverry was then awarded a Master of Science in Periodontics during her residency at Columbia University. Her Master of Science research examined the prevalence of periodontal disease in patients with advanced heart failure. During her time studying at Columbia, Dr. Salaverry co-authored a paper for the journal of Addiction in August 2007 which investigated the use of the medication Bupropion in conjunction with nicotine gum as maintenance treatment for preventing smoking relapse.
Her specialties include evaluating periodontal risk factors, treatment of periodontal disease to reduce the risk of heart diseases, treatment of halitosis and esthetic implant therapy. In addition to private practice, she is an Instructor of Clinical Dental Medicine at Columbia within the Section of Oral and Diagnostic Sciences (Division of Periodontics). In 2013, Dr. Salaverry became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
Outside of the world of dentistry, she is a violinist with the New York Reparatory Orchestra and performs in several concerts throughout the year. Her other hobbies include enjoying musical theatre, dance, film, cheering on the St. Louis Rams, and spending time with her Chihuahua named Elvis.
