4 Things to Do If You Test Positive for COVID-19

Throughout 2020, the entire global population has been living in fear of the COVID-19 pandemic. As you adjust back to some of the normalities of your everyday life, there is a chance that you will become infected with this virus. When this occurs, there are steps that you can take to better your chances of staying well and healing quickly. In this article, we will share four things to do if you receive a positive COVID-19 test.

1. Get Tested Again

If you are experiencing common symptoms of the virus, there is no need to get tested again because you have likely received accurate results. If you have no symptoms, consider getting tested again using a covid pcr test. PCR tests are not only affordable, they are more accurate than other testing mechanisms. Since testing was developed quickly and completed rapidly, there is a likelihood that you could receive a false positive result.

2. Put In a Grocery Delivery Order

After you test positive for COVID-19, it is suggested that you quarantine diligently for at least 14 days after you stop exhibiting symptoms. Due to the viral nature of this disease, it is critical that you shelter-in-place so that you do not expose any additional people. In order to be prepared for the upcoming weeks of quarantine, put in a grocery order that will supply you with enough food to last for multiple weeks. As you complete this order, add foods that are loaded with vitamins and nutrients. By eating whole foods, your immune system will have the strength it needs to fight off disease. In addition to fresh fruits and vegetables, order soothing remedies such as herbal tea.

3. Contact Your Coworkers and Friends

After testing positive for COVID-19, contact the coworkers and friends that you have had recent contact with. Whether in the office or at a party, these friends need to know that they have had a first hand exposure to the virus. Although this action may seem humiliating, it is your responsibility to inform acquaintances of the risk so that the disease does not spread any further.

4. Establish an Emergency Plan

If you are ill, there is a high likelihood that your body will naturally fight off the disease within a couple weeks. In the chance that you are experiencing life-threatening symptoms, develop an emergency plan so that you can receive the care you need. In preparation for a critical situation, make a list of important information including:

  • Date of birth
  • Insurance information
  • Medical history
  • Date you tested positive
  • Symptoms

When you make a list of these details, you can give it to the medical providers when they come to pick you up. By doing this, you can ensure that the healthcare specialists know how to care for you during your hospital stay.

Summary

Testing positive for COVID-19 is scary, and a large percentage of the population is likely to contract this illness in the upcoming months. After determining that your test is accurately positive, you can begin to take steps to ensure that you and your community stay safe and avoid further illnesses.
